Get a real job partnership
WDANZ is pleased to announce a commercial arrangement with Andrew Sturge from IGCC (www.getarealjob.co.nz). IGCC places motivated graduates into New Zealand employment, mostly but not always, recent immigrants to New Zealand.Andrew's business model is different to the traditional Employment Agency that charges the employer a percentage of the salary for the placement of candidates. He only gets his fees from the candidate when they get work so picks only the best and most motivated of the bunch!
Quite frankly, most web development companies do not have a spare $10,000.00 to optain a new staff member, and the traditional employment agency model (with what some may claim has a slightly tarred reputation) is becomming harder to make work in a tight job market.
There is clearly a growing place in the market for employing the services of a consultant like IGCC to prepare and write a CV, and to market and promote a candidate. I believe that with the tightening job market we will be likely to see providers of this type of service increase.
I've been impressed thus far with Andrew's integrity. My own web development company recently employed one of his graduates and there is no question that a graduate who is paying 20% of their salary to get a real job in the industry is VERY motivated indeed! While Andrew is based in Auckland, many graduates are able and willing to settle anywhere. Sunny Gisborne, the winterless north, or the pride of the South can all be great experiences for graduates just wanting to get their career off to a good start!
